It was only a matter of days before the petition rolled out against Shawty Lo’s new reality show “All My Babies’ Mamas’ set to premiere on Oxygen this coming spring. Many feel the show, which stars Shawty Lo’s clan of ten women who’ve helped him produce eleven children, is the most blatant form of televised buffoonery. It’s no secret that TV networks study Nielsen ratings for an idea of what shows to feed their viewers, so the fruition of Shawty’s hour on the tube could very well be what black audiences have subconsciously been asking for. However, a petition has indeed been created on Change.org with over 2,000 signatures so far signing off in support of the show’s ban. From the words of the petitioner:
Oxygen Television Network is prepared to broadcast a one hour special celebrating the dysfunction of rapper Shawty Lo…aka the insulting title ‘My Babies’ [sic] witnessed by his 11 children…by 10 different women…(some may have been underage) as they….argue, beg, fight for emotional, financial support and sexual reward. What is the difference between this ministrel [sic] show and the others which clog the airwaves without proper balance of the beauty and positive aspects of our community??

I hope this show does come on. I am definitely watching it, I don’t understand why people are trying to stop it from airing. If these women put themselves in this predicament, why is it wrong to air it on TV? it’s not about race, so why is everyone focusing on Race. Every time there is a show, or anytime of negative attention brought to African Americans, the race card is pulled out. I personally am sick of hearing about it. I think that African Americans are more racist them are white people. I am a European woman, some label me as White. An African American Male savagely murdered my younger sister, he stabbed her 64 times, raped her and then set her on fire, I don’t go around pulling a race card, I don’t go around trying to kill every African American male that crosses my path. Another example just last night I saw a commercial on Tv for a dating cite called meetblackpeople.com, really,,, is there such a cite that is only advertised for White people? I think not, another example BET, Black Entertainment, is there a White people only show? It’s time to get over the race bullshit. its one sided.
